El 26 de setembre és el Dia europeu de les llengües. Des de l'any 2001, sota l'organització conjunta del Consell d'Europa i de la Unió Europea se celebra aquest dia. "The general objectives of the European Day of Languages are: 1) Alerting the public to the importance of language learning and diversifying the range of languages learnt in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding; 2) Promoting the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe, which must be preserved and fostered; 3) Encouraging lifelong language learning in and out of school, whether for study purposes, for professional needs, for purposes of mobility or for pleasure and exchanges." Al web del Consell d'Europa es pot trobar tota la informació relacionada amb aquest esdeveniment (informació dels anys anteriors, esdeveniments que tindran lloc, recursos, enllaços, etc.). I hope that the "European Day of Languages" will encourage many people to learn a new language. Especially in the United Kingdom where the interest in learning language seems to be declining.
ResponEliminaDid you know that four schools in Britain have introduced Esperanto, the neutral international language, in order to test its propaedeutic values?
The pilot project is being monitored by the University of Manchester, and I believe the project deserves academic appraisal.
